Radiolucencies Associated with the Second Molar Adjacent to the Impacted Third Molar in the Maxilla in Comparison to the Mandible

OBJECTIVES To find the frequency radiolucencies associated with second molar adjacent to an impacted third in maxilla as compared mandible. METHODOLOGY A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 385 Orthopantomograms (OPG) of patients visiting Sharif Medical and Dental College (SMDC), Services Institute Sciences (SIMS) Dentistry, CMH, Lahore College, over a period three months from December 2020 February 2021. Patients above age 21 years were included this study. Grossly carious molars inadequate tooth structure be evaluated missing maxillary mandibular excluded RESULTS The association between periapical (p=0.140), pericoronal (p=1.000) external root resorption (p= 0.157) arch type (mandible/ maxilla) not statistically significant but that caries (p≤0.001).
